Loom Photos
For those of you who are curious, here is the new loom! It's a Schacht 8-harness table loom, with a 20" weaving width. (Yes, I apparently have a thing for Schacht equipment.)
It's currently sitting in my dining room, attached to its legs. I did a bit of weaving over the weekend, but I'm waiting on some yarn and warping tools (to be purchased at Rhinebeck) before I do much more. The edges are pulling in quite a bit, but I know that this will get better with practice.
Don't worry; I'm not going to start pushing looms at everyone (well, not all the time, anyway).

Good gravy, Val! That's hardcore, serious business there! I love it!
Yay Val!
I sooooo can't wait to start weaving!
I wanna see what you do first!
Cool....congratulations on the new loom....
Your edges are pulling in probably because you are not allowing for takeup on the loom.
Try this:
When you make your shot.....Let the yarn curve up and away from the already woven peice.....it should be a nice arc....then beat it gently....the extra yarn in the arc should be enough to prevent the edges from pulling in....
Keep doing a bit more on that warp, and go ahead and use it up with trying some things.....
*giggles* You are amazing Val, You're my favorite Craft-o-holic! I'm right behind you, mentally. I'd like to weave my own handtowels and such.. but nah, I'll stick to knitting, and dyeing, and spinning.. ;) I know you'll be great at this too. And though I likely won't ever own one, if you need help pushing looms, I've got your back!@ weeeeeeeeeeeeeee
That is ginormous!
Warp! That! Loom! Hey!
